She/Her
Hi, I’m Michelle! I am a passionate and devoted Art Therapist and Talk Therapist who completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Guelph, with a double major in Psychology and Studio Art. During my time in school, I became inspired to combine my two interests of empathy and art, and to continue exploring the therapeutic potential of art as a creative non-verbal approach to mental health challenges. In order to continue developing my experience and knowledge, I went on to complete my Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapies at Concordia University, specializing in Art Therapy.
I provide either Talk Therapy or Art Therapy from a client-centred approach, and uses a blend of Psychodynamic, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Trauma-Informed Therapy in my work with clients. I have experience supporting a variety of populations including, geriatric cohorts, individuals coping with grief and bereavement, and youth and young adults dealing with various mental, physical, and development challenges. I specialize in several areas including, depression and anxiety, trauma, relationship and attachment challenges, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and coping with medical conditions.
My goal as a therapist, is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where individuals are able to explore, grow and feel empowered throughout their therapeutic journey. My hope is to continue to promote the use of art within the mental health field and empower others to explore the creative potential that art has to offer as both a healing and growing experience.
When not in session, you can find me out exploring small towns and spending time in nature. I am proud cat mama, and love to spend time with family and friends (especially when it involves sharing food). I also have a background in visual arts and also spend my time creating and making art, whether it be with watercolours, wood burning, or building furniture.
